One step ahead of the TV game...

Evidently someone else caught on to the genius Top Gear YouTube video I posted here about a month ago...they only went and used it on BBC2 as the advert for the new series...I really should work for them.

The Book Thief...

Is my current book, I read so infrequently I'll probably refer to my reading this book again in a couple of months time. So far I love it. I came across an amazing metaphor today - I'm a geek, I love metaphor. Anywho here it is for your appreciation, I love the way Zusak writes so freely,

"She was the book thief without the words.
Trust me, the words were on their way, and when they arrived. Liesel would hold them in her hands like the clouds, and she would wring them out, like the rain."

I love it because it's French

I work in an office in Wimbledon Village, so naturally I get distracted by the beautiful clothes in the windows of the boutiquey, high-end, far-too-expensive-for-me, designer shops I pass on my lunch breaks. However, I can but share my window shopping, as my obession du jour is so gorgeous!

Would you get hysterical over James May?

This video has to make it up here purely for recording purposes so it can be enjoyed again and again forever more. I love this. It sums up Dads around the country - the national obsession of middle-aged men that is three middle-aged men on Top Gear. I love how he screams after James May, like a teenage girl would her favourite boyband...thank you Innocent smoothies for classics like this every week. Incidentally their newsletter is the best thing since their smoothies, you should join it.

How much cheese is too much cheese?

After a fun-filled weekend I am sat in the office this Monday coming to the realisation that I probably ate far too much this weekend. I'm day dreaming at my desk, reliving the enormous thai curry on Friday night, all day breakfast at Saturday lunch and the massive cheese board we managed to demolish that evening, in aid of a 'Cheese and Wine' party - oh dear. One comment in particular resonated in my cheese-fuelled dreams that night when a friend said, "it's funny, cheese is basically butter, you'd never eat slabs of butter off the back of a knife" Oh god that's true! But it tastes so good, so it must be legit? I had a cracker or two as well, and a grape...healthy.

It's not a disaster. My boring same-old weekday lunches will bring me back to par (until next weekend). But the number of cabbage soup, bikini diets and pre-holiday detoxes circulating amongst the female contigent in my office is starting to unnerve me. I'm not going on a beach holiday this summer (yet) so I don't have to feel guilty about opting out of all of these crazy food fads! The justification makes us all happy doesn't it? Don't deny yourself the cake, just eat it and talk about it for an hour afterwards - that'll burn off 500 calories. Or eat the 'low fat' version - now that's definately ok.
